Notes on this run

Ten of the twenty-two assets were itemised in the published article. The remaining twelve — Chainlink, Bitcoin Cash, Toncoin, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, Avalanche, Uniswap, Polkadot, Pepe, Bonk, Floki and dogwifhat — were published only as a combined 1.4% of the basket and appear here as a single row. Their individual capitalisations were not published and have not been reconstructed.

The five largest assets are 90.7% of the basket and the ten largest are 98.6%. The Herfindahl-Hirschman index across the basket is 4,235. Stripping out the two dollar stablecoins takes the basket to $1,775.6bn, Bitcoin to 72.2% of it, and the index to 5,417.

The CoinageReport ticker, drawing on a wider universe of assets, put the whole market at $2,270.8bn on the same day. The same Bitcoin numerator against that denominator gives 56.4%, so the defensible answer is a range of 56% to 63%.

What this does not show

22-asset basket, selected by prior knowledge of size. Not a full-market ranking. The result is a ceiling on Bitcoin’s share, not an estimate. This file itemises the ten largest holdings and carries the remaining twelve as a single aggregate row flagged in row_type; individual values for those twelve were not retained at pull time.
